Eligibility

You're eligible if you:

  • are a domestic student
  • are enrolled, or intend to enrol, full-time as a commencing student in the year of award in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or a dual/engineering integrated program
  • can demonstrate financial hardship 
  • do not hold another scholarship that the Director considers to be similar.

How to apply

NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS - The next available opportunity will be for Semester 1 2027, with applications opening July 2026.

You'll need to prepare:

  • a cover letter
  • your resume
  • responses to 2 provided questions
  • a copy of your reports from Year 11, Semester 2 and Year 12, Semester 1 or, if you are a current student, your most recent studies report, and
  • a 1-minute video in response to a provided question.

Selection criteria

This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial hardship.

We'll also consider:

  • documented evidence of educational disadvantage as a result of financial, geographical, cultural or other personal circumstances
  • academic achievement
  • personal qualities, including 
    • leadership potential, community service and engagement
    • alignment with the graduate attributes of the Liveris Academy
    • demonstrated commitment to academic excellence
    • demonstrated capacity and willingness to actively participate in and positively contribute to co-curricular activities at UQ
    • demonstrated strength of interest in undertaking co-curricular developmental activities through the Liveris Academy
  • any other matter that the selection committee considers relevant to your future success at UQ and in your career.

Preference may be given to applicants who are the first in their family to attend university.

What happens next

We’ll acknowledge your application by email. If you haven't received an email within 2 days of applying, email scholarships@eait.uq.edu.au.

If you’re considered eligible, we’ll forward your application to a selection panel to review.

If you’re successful, we'll notify you in writing.

About this scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2020 and is maintained by an endowment from Dr Liza O’Moore, UQ Alumna, under the Create Change Scholarship Match and Dow Chemical Challenge. This scholarship acknowledges the support of her parents, Liam and Elaine O’Moore, to pursue her studies at UQ and to encourage and support outstanding students in an approved program at UQ through financial support and membership with the Liveris Academy.
