About this scholarship
Established by a bequest of $50,000 from the estate of Marjorie Ella Lucas to commemorate the name of her late husband Keith Mackie Lucas who graduated BVSc (Melb) in 1924 but who spent the majority of his career in professional practice in Brisbane.
Eligibility
You are eligible if you are a Higher Degree by Research candidate studying in the field of veterinary science
How to apply
Your application must include the following documents:
- cover letter addressed to the Head of School and addressing the scholarship selection criteria
- completed application form
- completed budget spreadsheet
- a quote for your biggest expenditure line item (for example international flights or course fees etc.)
- letter of support from your Principal Advisor
Completed submissions are to be emailed to hdr.vet@enquire.uq.edu.au by 11:55pm (AEST) Monday, 12 May 2025. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
Selection criteria
Applicants will be ranked on the basis of:
- academic achievement and potential for scholastic success; and
- the quality, significance and strategic fit of the applicant’s research project; and
- any other matters the Head of Veterinary Science sees fit.
Rules
This is a Philanthropic HDR travel scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships
All philanthropic scholarship recipients must adhere to the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements as well the current travel advice for HDR travel.
Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.
Donors may also invite the recipient to present or report on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.
The information you provide in your application is collected for the purposes of (1) assessing your eligibility for this scholarship, (2) selecting scholarship recipients, and (3) administration of the scholarship.
