The 33rd UQ Senate Create Change Residential Scholarship was established by the 33rd UQ Senate, and is maintained through an endowment fund and is open to further contributions from Senate members. The Scholarship honours the commitment and dedication of Senate members to support promising students in attaining a tertiary education.

The purpose of the 33rd UQ Senate Create Change Residential Scholarship is to encourage and support high achieving financially disadvantaged students to undertake undergraduate studies and live as a resident on campus at The University of Queensland. 


An applicant is eligible for a Scholarship, if the applicant—

(a) applies for the Scholarship by the closing date for applications;
(b) will be a domestic student in the year of award in accordance with the University’s Student Fees Policy;
(c) intends to enrol as a commencing student in any Bachelor program in the first semester of the year of the award;
(d) has not completed any prior tertiary study at bachelor level or higher;
(e) achieves a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 89.00 , or equivalent;
(f)  has a residential place confirmed with an approved accommodation provider located on a UQ campus; and
(g)  has demonstrated significant financial disadvantage through achieving the maximum points for the ‘Financial Hardship’ category of QTAC’s Educational Access Scheme.
To meet the eligibility of (d) and (g), applicants will be in receipt of a 2022 UQ Link Scholarship. 
Preference will be given to applicants who are from disadvantaged cohorts in the following order of preference:
(a) are a Regional or Remote Student;
(b) are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person;
(c) are first in family to attend university; or
(d) face other significant barriers to commencing tertiary study.

How to apply

Applications open for the 2022 UQ Residential Scholarships and 33rd UQ Senate Create Change Residential Scholarship.  Applicants only need to complete and submit ONE application to be considered for these awards.

PLEASE READ the below application information:

Before you commence your scholarship application:

  • Obtain your QTAC reference number. The reference number will be issued after you have lodged your QTAC application online, and will be 9 numbers long beginning with a '32' (or a '31' if you are a gap year student who applied to QTAC for 2021)
  • Obtain relevant supporting documentation – you may be required to evidence financial circumstances, regional/rural/remote residency, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, and community service/leadership achievements.

The Application Link on this page will take you to Application Portal. You will need to Register if you do not already have a Survey Monkey Apply login.  

Select the Residential Scholarships program and commence the Application Form.

The questions in the application form are designed to cover the relevant eligibility and selection criteria for each scholarship on offer. You will be considered for the relevant scholarships in accordance with your responses to the relevant questions.

Complete questions relevant to you, uploading supporting documentation where applicable.

  • You can exit your application form at any time by using ‘Save and Continue Editing’ and 'Back to Application' in your task box. This will allow you to return directly to the form when you next log in.
  • Once you ‘Mark as Complete’, you can still return to your form, but you will need to choose Edit from the Options icon (…) in the top right hand corner to make additions/changes.  
  • Majority of questions are mandatory.  If you do not have your supporting documentation for a mandatory question, clear your answer, Save and Continue Editing so you can exit and return to amend your answer to enable upload of supporting documentation.

When you have finalised your application, Mark as Complete, having completed the application form and uploaded all required supporting documentation. Submit your application by the due date. Please note, you will be unable to edit your application yourself once it has been Submitted.  

You will receive a confirmation email when your application is successfully submitted. Note: this email may be issued to your Spam or Junk folder.  Contact the Scholarships Office at ugscholarships@uq.edu.au if you do not receive a confirmation email within two working days of submitting your application, or if you require assistance with your application, or if you require your submitted application to be re-opened for further editing.
