Westpac Future Leaders Scholarships provide up to $120,000 over 2 to 3 years for postgraduate study at select Australian universities, including UQ.

The scholarship is offered in broad priority focus areas: 

  • technology and innovation
  • fostering Australian-Asian ties 
  • enabling positive social change

The Scholarship includes a dedicated Leadership Development Program designed to prepare you to be the leader you want to be.

As a Westpac Scholar, you’ll join over 500 talented Aussies in the W100 – a diverse network offering development opportunities, ongoing support and a sense of belonging

Who can apply?  Scholars who:

  • have completed their first undergraduate degree less than 5 years ago
  • have demonstrated academic excellence and are eager to undertake a PhD or full-time masters
  • are passionate about strengthening Australia's ties with Asia, driving technology and innovation or enabling positive social change
  • have a bold vision to contribute to the growth and prosperity of Australia who can articulate this vision and how postgraduate study will help make it real
  • possess a desire and potential to lead
  • are keen to be inspired by others, build networks and collaborate across diverse disciplines
  • are confident in taking on challenges
  • have a desire to be part of and contribute to the Westpac 100 Scholars Network

Funding requests for the purpose of medical research as defined in the ARC Medical Research Policy available on the Australian Research Council website will not be considered; MD, Juris Doctor programs or equivalent are also excluded.

How to apply

Applications will be accepted until 2 September 2020.

Selected finalists will be required to attend a National Assessment Centre on 9-10 December 2020 in Sydney.
