This Scholarship is maintained by The Honourable Dr Penelope Wensley AC Sports Scholarship Endowment to encourage and support students with financial need that are competing at an Elite Level in a Recognised Sport.

In 2020, Alumni Friends donated funds, under the UQ Create Change Scholarship Match Initiative, to establish the Wensley Sports Scholarship, to encourage and support students with financial need that are competing at an Elite Level in a Recognised Sport. The Honourable Dr Penelope Wensley AC served with great distinction, as Patron of the Incorporated Society from 2008 until the formal closure of the Association (and founding of the Alumni Friends Society). The creation of The Honourable Dr Penelope Wensley AC Sports Scholarship Endowment and the Wensley Scholarship celebrates the support of the Association for UQ students who also demonstrate sporting success, and recognises, with grateful thanks, the untiring support and service of the final Patron of the Association.
