Eligibility
You’re eligible if you:
- have received an offer to study an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework full-time program commencing in Semester 1, 2023.
- met the academic and English Language requirement for your chosen program of study.
- live in Australia and are currently on a valid
- Bridging Visa ‘A’ (subclass 010) or
- Bridging Visa ‘E’ (subclass 050) AND have applied for -
- Temporary Humanitarian Stay visa (Subclass 449),
- Temporary Protection visa (Subclass 785),
- Temporary Humanitarian Concern visa (Subclass 786),
- Safe Haven Enterprise visa (Subclass 790).

How to apply
Apply using the online application form.
You'll need:
- a copy of your current visa as stipulated in the eligibility. If you are currently on a Bridging Visa A or E and have made an application for a Protection visa, please provide a copy of acknowledgement letter from Immigration.
- a personal statement addressed 'To whom it may concern' dated and signed.
- a Centrelink statement (where applicable) if you receive assistance otherwise please upload a statement explaining otherwise.
- a copy of your last 3 most recent payslips (if currently employed). If unemployed please upload a statement explaining otherwise.
- your resume/CV.
- UQ offer letter for the chosen program of studies.
- award/degree certificates can also be included, however, we will check the admissions records for documents provided during the process of applying for a program of studies at UQ.
- If applicable, references from employer, community organisation, academic, or any other relevant group that wishes to support your scholarship application.

What happens next
We'll email you to let you know when we've received your application. If you don't receive a confirmation email within 2 working days of submitting your application, contact us at sponsored.students@uq.edu.au
If you’re considered eligible, we’ll forward your application to a selection panel to review. If you’re successful, we'll notify you in writing.
About this scholarship
UQ is offering up to 10 scholarships for students from refugee or asylum seeker backgrounds. The Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship demonstrates UQ’s commitment to champion diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity.
The scholarship is available to refugees residing in Australia who are on a Bridging Visa E, Temporary Protection Visa or a Safe Haven Enterprise Visa. The scholarship will provide a full tuition fee waiver and an $8,000 annual living stipend to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programs.
