Eligibility

Domestic students

You're a domestic student if you're a citizen of Australia or New Zealand, an Australian permanent resident, or a holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa.

To be eligible you must: 

  • have completed a UQ degree at bachelor level or higher.
  • start studying an eligible postgraduate program in Semester 1 or 2, 2022. This includes most masters, graduate diplomas and graduate certificates, but check the rules for domestic students (PDF, 102 KB) (PDF, 101.5 KB) to find out which programs are not eligible. 
  • not hold a Commonwealth supported place in the program.
  • not receive another tuition fee reduction in the same study period.

You'll pay reduced fees for your entire program, as long as you continue to meet the conditions in the rules. 

International students

You're an international student if you're not an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.

A student is eligible for the award of the UQ Lifelong Learner, if the applicant:

To be eligible you must: 

  • have completed a UQ degree at bachelor level or higher, or a study abroad program, including at least 2 semesters (16 units) of full-time study.
  • have applied for and been offered a place to start studying an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate program in Semester 1 or 2, 2022. This includes most UQ programs, but check the rules for international students (PDF, 112.4 KB) (PDF, 112.4 KB) to find out which programs are not eligible
  • enrol to study full-time 
  • not receive a scholarship or fee rebate from UQ
  • not receive a full scholarship or sponsorship from another organisation (applicants with partial scholarships/sponsorships will be considered at the University’s discretion)
  • not be changing from another UQ program 

You'll pay reduced fees for up to 4 years of your program, as long as you continue to meet the conditions in the rules.

If you qualify for reduced fees, we'll contact you to let you know. 

Your reduced fee will be calculated after you enrol in your courses each semester, as long as you continue to meet the conditions.
