Eligibility
You’re eligible if you:
- are an International student
- are a citizen and resident of mainland China
- are commencing your first semester at UQ
- are commencing an approved Faculty of Science program (minimum one-year duration). See Terms & Conditions for a full list of approved programs.
and you:
- have met the conditions of your offer by the scholarship closing date (you do not need to accept your full offer by the scholarship closing date)
- demonstrate strong academic performance in your previous studies.
How to apply
Applications for Semester 1 2024 commencing students have now closed. Online applications for Semester 2 2024 commencing students will close on 24 June 2024.
You’ll need to submit:
- A personal statement demonstrating your capacity to contribute to science as a global ambassador in your region (limit 300 words)
Applications for this scholarship in Semester 2 2024 will close at 2pm on 24 June 2024.

Selection criteria
We’ll consider:
- your academic performance (based on the academic credentials you submitted in your UQ Faculty of Science program application)
- your capacity to contribute to science as a global ambassador in your region (based on the personal statement you submitted in your scholarship application)
- UQ values diversity and inclusion and may consider this when we review your application.
What happens next
We’ll send you an email to confirm we've received your application.
If you're awarded the scholarship, the A$10,000 tuition fee reduction will be split into two $5,000 amounts and applied across the first two semesters of the program (after enrolment and before the tuition fees due date).
