Eligibility

You are eligible, if you: 

  • submit an application by the closing date
  • intend to enrol or are currently enrolled in an Honours program in one of the following areas:
    • Quantum
    • Compound semi-conductors
    • Superconductors
    • Photonics
    • Micro-electromechanical systems
  • are an international or domestic student in accordance with The University’s Fee Policy.

Selection criteria

We'll consider:

  • your proposed research project, travel plans and research development goals in one of the relevant fields: quantum; compound semi-conductors; superconductors; photonics; or micro-electromechanical systems
  • the strength of your personal statement outlining why you deserve the scholarship
  • giving preference to students who identify as women, are non-binary, are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, or are from rural, remote and regional areas.

Note:

The selection committee will aim to award 50% of the scholarships to successful candidates who identify as women, non-binary, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons and/or those who identify as being from a regional, rural or remote background.

Your application will be reviewed by the School of Mathematics and Physics' Head of School and a selection committee, and we'll be in touch following the selection process.

Established in 2025 by the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI) through the Quantum and Advanced Technologies Talent Building program. This scholarship will be administered in the School of Mathematics and Physics, Faculty of Science at The University of Queensland
