Eligibility
You're eligible if you:
- you can demonstrate financial need;
- are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; and
- are enrolled full time in any undergraduate program at the University of Queensland.
How to apply
Apply using the online application portal.
You may need to upload supporting documentation that shows your:
- financial circumstances (such as Centrelink Statements, ATO notices, etc.);
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status;
- academic achievements; and
- community service and/or leadership achievements.
You only need to complete one form to be considered for all scholarships under the UQ-ICS and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarships.

Selection criteria
We'll consider:
- demonstrated financial hardship;
- personal qualities including leadership potential;
- academic ability; and
- any other matter considered relevant to your future academic success.
Preference may be given to:
- an applicant studying in a field that is STEM-related or relevant to a career in mining, and
- past recipients of the Rio Tinto Awards for Indigenous Engineering Students, or
- past participants in the InspireU program.
