You're eligible if you:

  • are an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • have completed at least two years of schooling at an Australian secondary school
  • meet the correct age requirements (see Rhodes Trust website)
  • have completed (by July 2023) an undergraduate degree
  • have outstanding academic achievement.

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed based on:

  • academic excellence
  • energy to use your talents to the full - as demonstrated by success in areas such as: sports, music, debate, dance, theatre, and artistic pursuits
  • truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship
  • moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in your fellow human beings.

About this scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest (established in 1903) and perhaps the most prestigious international scholarship programme, enabling outstanding young people from around the world to study at the University of Oxford.
