Eligibility
You're eligibile if you:
- are enrolled full-time in the Doctor of Medicine
- can demonstrate financial hardship
- do not hold another scholarship the Dean considers similar.

You'll need to provide a personal statement (of no more than 250 words) outlining:
- your background and circumstances
- your financial need
- your attempts to mitigate or overcome your difficulties.

Selection criteria
We'll consider:
- demonstrated financial need (i.e., Centrelink statement, ATO notice, etc.)
- strength of your personal statement demonstrating how the scholarship will assist the completion of the Doctor of Medicine
- any other matter the selection committee considers relevant to your future success in your study.
About this scholarship
Established in 2022 by Dr Brian Hirschfeld under the Queensland Commitment Scholarship Match. Dr Brian Hirschfeld wishes to commemorate the memory of his parents. His father Dr Otto Hirschfeld was Chancellor of the University from 1953 to 1957, and his mother Mrs Joan Hirschfeld established a memorial fund to support scholarships for students at UQ.
