- The maximum total grant amount for an NCP Scholarship is $87,000 to support study, language training and internship and includes monthly stipends and allowances.

Eligibility
You’re eligible if you:
- are nominated by your home university
- are an Australian citizen
- are not a current citizen or permanent resident of your proposed host location(s)
- are enrolled in and undertaking, until completion of all study components of the NCP Scholarship Program, at least one Bachelor Degree, or Bachelor Honours Degree or eligible undergraduate language-focused course at an Australian campus of an Australian university
- are between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) for non-Indigenous applications, or between 18 and 35 years of age (inclusive) for Indigenous applications, on 1 January 2025
- have achieved a minimum of 70 per cent graded average or equivalent for your undergraduate course at the time of application, as determined by the nominating home university
- are not a previous recipient of a New Colombo Plan (NCP) Scholarship (may have received a NCP Mobility Grant)
- are not an employee of the branch of Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) that administers the NCP
- are able to commence the scholarship between 1 January 2025 and 15 December 2025
How to apply
You must be nominated by your university to apply for a NCP Scholarship.
To be considered for nomination, submit an expression of interest before 31 May 2024.

It is strongly recommended all students interested in the NCP Scholarship have an initial consultation with the Internships and Global Experiences Team to discuss host university preferences for exchange.

Selection criteria
The selection panel will consider:
- academic excellence at the tertiary level
- leadership and engagement in the community
- adaptability and resilience
- ability to contribute to NCP's strategic objective and outcomes.
What happens next
If you are nominated by your university, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) will invite nominees to apply for the scholarship.
About this scholarship
The New Colombo Plan (NCP) is an initiative of the Australian Government that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo-Pacific in Australia and strengthen our relationships through study and work placement in the region. The NCP Scholarship provides an opportunity for high achieving undergraduate students to undertake study, internships, and language training in the Indo-Pacific region.
