Scholarship description

This scholarship is open to PhD candidates in the field of architecture. Applications are called every year. This is a philanthropic HDR travel scholarship.

How to apply

Complete the online application form by 5pm, 15 July 2019.

In preparing your application, you must address the following criteria:

  • indicate how the scholarship would be spent to observe overseas architectural methods
  • the significance and relevance of the proposed overseas travel to the applicant’s research higher degree candidature
  • the potential for the proposed travel to enhance the quality of the applicant’s research higher degree thesis
  • the potential for the proposed travel to expedite the completion of the thesis.

Selection criteria

    Applicants will be ranked on the basis of:

    • the merit of the applicant's proposed travel plan, indicating how the scholarships would be spent to observe overseas architectural methods
    • the significance and relevance of the proposed overseas travel to the applicant's research higher degree candidature
    • the potential for the proposed travel to enhance the quality of the applicant's research higher degree thesis
    • the potential for the proposed travel to expedite the completion of the thesis
    • any other matters the selection committee sees fit.

    Terms and conditions

    If you are awarded this scholarship, you must:

    • acknowledge it in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while you held the scholarship, and
    • within 3 months after you return from overseas, present a seminar in the School of Architecture on the work undertaken while you held the scholarship.

    All philanthropic scholarship recipients must adhere to the conditions of the UQ Research and Travel Scholarships Policy, including reporting and progress requirements.

    Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.
