About this scholarship
Through their gift, the Dr Jian Zhou Foundation wishes to support a scholarship for Higher Degree by Research students from Wenzhou Medical University, China to undertake doctoral studies at the University of Queensland. The Scholarship is in memory of the late Dr Jian Zhou, who was the co-inventor of the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccine commonly known as Gardasil.
Eligibility
You are eligible if you have undertaken prior studies at Wenzhou Medical University, China to undertake doctoral studies at the University of Queensland. There is a preference, though not a requirement, that the you will be working under the direction of a supervisor at The Frazer Institute.
How to apply
You will be considered for this scholarship when you apply for a higher degree by research program at UQ in the international scholarship round.
Selection criteria
Your application will be ranked on the basis of:
- Academic achievement and the potential of scholastic success
- Any other matters the selection committee considers to be relevant to your future research development.
Rules
This is a philanthropic HDR Living scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships.
All philanthropic scholarship recipients must follow the conditions of UQ Research Scholarships terms and conditions
Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.
Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.

A domestic part-time student with carer’s responsibilities, a medical condition or a disability, which prevents them from studying full time may be eligible for scholarship consideration, on a case by case basis.
