Scholarship description

This bursary was established by a bequest of $3,000 by William Downing who died on 25 November 1958. It aims to support high achieving students in the fourth year of the Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Honours) program.


A student is eligible for the bursary in a year if, in semester 1 of the year of the award, the student is enrolled full-time in the fourth year of an approved program.

Selection criteria

The bursary is awarded to the student who shows greatest merit determined by:

  • academic achievement during the third year of an approved program, and
  • other evidence considered relevant by the Associate Dean (Academic) to the future success of the agriculture, agronomy or related industries by the student.
