The Costa Berries Scholarship in Horticultural Science scholarship supports and encourages students who wish to have a career in horticulture and develop horticultural industry skills in Far North Queensland.



An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship if the applicant –

(a) submits an application to the Head, by the closing date for applications; and

(b) is enrolled full-time in the first or second year of the relevant program in the relevant field of study; and

(c) does not hold another scholarship that the Head considers to be similar.

Additional benefits

Costa (Berry Category) may offer the recipient vacation employment at any Costa Berry Category site for any period during the period in which the recipient holds the scholarship, determined by Costa Berry Category in consultation with the recipient.

Please submit the completed online application by 11.59 PM AEST on 20th November, ensure you have:

  • complete all sections of the online application form. 
  • Attached all supporting documentations. 

Incomplete and late applications will not be considered. 


Selection criteria

The scholarship is awarded to the applicant showing greatest merit as demonstrated by-

(a) overall academic achievement in courses in the relevant program; and
(b) personal qualities, including: passion, sincerity, accountability, respect and determination and leadership potential; and
(c) strength of interest that the applicant demonstrates in completing at least one period of vacation employment at Costa Group; and
(d) any other matter that the selection committee considers to be relevant to the applicant's future success in the horticulture profession.

Priority will be given to a student whose home address is Far North Queensland.

Costa may interview short-listed applicants
