Eligibility

You’re eligible if you:

  • intend to commence or have commenced in the Master of Business Analytics program during the 2025 academic year
  • have a permanent home address in a regional or remote geographical area classified as one of:
    • Remoteness Area 2 (RA2);
    • Remoteness Area 3 (RA3);
    • Remoteness Area 4 (RA4);
    • Remoteness Area 5 (RA5);

area as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2021 (Visit the searchable map of Australia that allows you to view the ASGS Remoteness Area classification of the region where you live)

  • do not relocate to a major city more than 3 months prior to or post-commencement of the Master of Business Analytics
  • can demonstrate financial disadvantage.

And you're any of the below:

  • Australian citizen, permanent humanitarian visa holder, or permanent resident
  • New Zealand citizen. 

How to apply

You’ll need:

  • evidence of previous voluntary or work experience such as CV/resume, employment statements, reference letters etc
  • any other documents relevant to your application, such as certificates, references or awards.

You’ll be required to provides a personal statement in video format of no more than five minutes answering the following:

  • your motivations for choosing to study for a master's degree at the Business School and your career aspirations
  • how you overcame a professional or personal obstacle
  • what you have done to make your work environment or community a better place
  • any additional information you wish the Scholarship panel to take into consideration (e.g. caring responsibilities; financial hardship; volunteering or other small non-paid work experiences; start-up roles).

Selection criteria

We’ll consider:

  • evidence of academic merit
  • paid and/or volunteer work experience
  • community involvement
  • motivations for studying business analytics and how this will relate to career progression
  • personal statement responses.

What happens next

The selection committee will meet soon after the closing date and notify you of the outcome in writing.

The Business School Master of Business Analytics – Rural and Remote Scholarship encourages and supports professionals to improve access to and completion of postgraduate study and upskill in exploring data to predict and improve business performance in a rapidly evolving environment.
