Eligibility

This scholarship is open to both future PhD students and current students in the first year of their PhD.

Current students can use their original offer of admission in their application and will need to apply through CSC (follow the CSC dates).

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

  • be a citizen and permanent resident of the People’s Republic of China;
  • be eligible to receive an Australian Student Visa;
  • satisfy the selection criteria set by the CSC;
  • satisfy UQ’s admissions entry requirement and be offered a place in the PhD program; and
  • meet the University’s English proficiency requirement.

How to apply

Step 1: Apply to UQ for PhD Admission

  • Before you can apply for the CSC PhD Scholarship, you must first be offered a place in The University of Queensland’s PhD program. Students wishing to apply for admission to UQ should follow the how to apply process and submit by the UQ closing date.
  • You should clearly note that you are applying for a CSC Scholarship in the application form.

Step 2: Apply to the CSC for the Living Stipend Scholarship

  • If you receive a provisional offer letter from UQ, you will then need to submit a separate application and supporting documents to the CSC directly by their deadlines. You should contact the CSC Scholarship Liaison officer at your university in China for assistance with their application.
  • The selection criteria, application form and CSC Employer Reference is available to download from the CSC website.
  • You should apply to the CSC for the maximum scholarship duration of 4 years.

Please do not submit your CSC-UQ PhD Scholarship application to The University of Queensland; it can only be accepted and processed by the CSC.

Step 3: Receive an Outcome

  • If you secure scholarship funding from the CSC, you will need to provide your CSC scholarship letter to UQ. A UQ unconditional offer letter can then be issued to you, provided that you have met all of UQ’s outstanding admissions entry requirements.
  • You will be required to commence in the research quarter specified in your UQ offer letter.
