Scholarship value
The Scholarship will provide the successful candidate with a UQGSS equivalent living allowance and a $10,000 top-up annually. The Scholarship will also provide a travel grant of a minimum of $1,500 for the candidate during their candidature

About this scholarship

The Scholarship was established in 2020 using funds from “The T.B. Sailors, Soldiers and Airmen’s Association of Queensland Bursary”, to support students undertaking research concerning chronic infectious diseases, including chronic respiratory diseases, that affect any person who at any time may have served in a war-like operation in any of the Australian military services at home or abroad.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you are applying to undertake a Higher Degree by Research in chronic infectious diseases, including chronic respiratory diseases, where the disease can be demonstrated to affect any person who at any time may have served in a war-like operation in any of the Australian military services at home or abroad.

How to apply

You will be considered for this scholarship when you apply for a higher degree by research program at UQ in the next scholarship round.

  • Academic Achievement and the potential for scholastic success
  • Any other matters the selection committee considers to be relevant to your future development.

Rules

This is a philanthropic HDR living, top-up and travel grant scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships

All philanthropic scholarship recipients must follow the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements.

Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.

Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.

The information you provide in your application is collected for the purposes of (1) assessing your eligibility for this scholarship, (2) selecting scholarship recipients, and (3) administration of the scholarship.  The University of Queensland may disclose the information you provide to the Donor for the stated purposes. The University will not otherwise disclose the information to a third party without your consent, unless such disclosure is authorised or required by law. A domestic part-time student with carer’s responsibilities, a medical condition or a disability, which prevents them from studying full time may be eligible for scholarship consideration, on a case by case basis.
