The School of Economics offers a full-fee waiver scholarship to a student who can demonstrate a keen interest in economics but who has been disadvantaged during their high schooling and may not be achieving the top OP band. Students from low socio-economic backgrounds, of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background or who have suffered educational setbacks are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship is available to Australian students who are completing year 12 studies and looking to apply for the Bachelor of Economics (BEcon).

Selection criteria

Applicants must address the following criteria:

  • broad academic achievement in Years 11 and 12
  • documentation outlining the reason for special consideration
  • a letter from your high school principal in support of your application
  • demonstrated interest in economics.

Previous study of economics at school or college is not required for enrolment in the BEcon degree or for this scholarship.

For successful scholarship candidates seeking to undertake the BEcon as part of a dual program, the scholarship will cover those courses required to complete the BEcon component of the dual program. It will not cover the other courses required for the dual program.
