Established in 2016 and maintained by an annual donation of $2000 from Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd, the purpose of the scholarship is to encourage domestic students to undertake a research degree at UQ who would not otherwise do so.


The applicant must:

  1. be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident;
  2. be a student enrolled for an honours or research higher degree in chemistry;
  3. fall into one of three categories:
    1. have a rural background (the selection panel may be guided by the Health Workforce Locator classifications e.g. Modified Monash Model);
    2. have some form of socio-economic disadvantage (the selection panel may be guided by the definition of financial hardship in the QTAC Educational Access Scheme);
    3. undertaking study at UQ would represent a significant change in location (i.e. they do not reside in or around Brisbane, or have not undertaken their undergraduate studies at UQ.)
