  • Eligibility

    The following competitive scholarships are awarded to outstanding Malaysian students on the basis of academic excellence and extra-curricular activities. Students who are short listed for consideration maybe required to participate in an interview. All scholarship applications can be submitted through an International Education Representative or directly to the University of Queensland at scholar@economics.uq.edu.au.

    Students will need to make a separate application to UQ International Admissions for entry into the Bachelor of Economics or the Master Coursework Programs.

    Undergraduate

    Covering up to 50% of the tuition fees only for students seeking entry into the Bachelor of Economics. The scholarship does not include living expenses for the duration of the program, travel expenses or overseas health cover.

    Criteria – Academic

    Students who have studied A Levels, STPM, GCE, SAM, AUSMAT, UEC, or Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) (or equivalent pre university studies) in Malaysia. Students must have a GPA equivalent to a 6 on a 7 point scale at UQ and also meet the UQ Math entry requirement.

    Students from a science/math background are strongly encouraged to apply.

    English Language Proficiency

    Students must satisfy the UQ English Language Requirements for entry into the program.

    Coursework Masters

    Covering up to 50% of the tuition fees only for students seeking entry into one of the following coursework masters programs:

    These scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Previous study of economics is not required. Work experience is also not required.

    This scholarship does not include living expenses for the duration of the program, travel expenses or overseas health cover.

    Criteria - Academic

    • Completed an undergraduate degree from a recognised institution with a GPA equivalent to a 6 on a 7 point scale.
    • Students must satisfy the UQ English Language Requirements for entry into the program.
