Scholarship description

The purpose of the award is to provide assistance to a meritorious, rural and/or remote student or an international student studying the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Midwifery or the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery Dual Degree program. Their relocation to study in these programs has the potential to impact on their studies. The funds are intended to assist with the cost of equipment, materials and other study-related items as may be required by the recipient.

The award is granted annually on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Nursing, Midwifery, and Social Work.


To be eligible, you must:

  1. Be enrolled full-time in the
    • Bachelor of Nursing
    • Bachelor of Midwifery
    • the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery; and
  2. Have completed at least 16 units towards the program; and
  3. Be recognised as an international student, or have relocated from a rural or remote region to undertake your studies.

The award is granted, at the discretion of the selection committee, to the applicant showing the greatest merit as demonstrated by:

  • Academic achievement in their program to date;
  • Compassion, caring, understanding and fair-mindedness in their dealings with patients and colleagues; and
  • Leadership and community service
