Scholarship description

The purpose of the scholarship is to support students who demonstrate leadership qualities in the property sector.

Eligibility

This scholarship is for second year and above students studying toward the Bachelor of Business Management with a major in Real Estate and Development. Applicants must have a financial need for the scholarship.

An applicant is eligible for the scholarship if the applicant:

  • is a domestic student in accordance with the University's Fee Policy, enrolled full time in an approved undergraduate program
  • has achieved a minimum program GPA of 5.0 on a 7.0 scale
  • has completed at least 50% of the unit value for their approved undergraduate program
  • seeks to pursue a career in the property profession
  • has a demonstrated commitment to the property sector in their studies and extracurricular activities
  • submits an application to the Dean by the closing date for applications, and
  • does not hold another scholarship that the Dean considers to be similar.

Selection criteria

For the selection process, the Dean of the UQ Business School must establish a committee comprising:

  • the Dean of the UQ Business School or nominee,
  • an Academic Administrative Manager of the UQ Business School (appointed by the Dean) or their nominee, and
  • a representative/s of the Sentinel Property Group or nominee, with university staff comprising the majority.

The committee may decide to interview short-listed candidates.

In making its recommendation the selection committee will take into account:

  • academic achievements in studies to date
  • demonstrated commitment to the property sector
  • personal qualities, including leadership potential
  • participation in additional activities, and
  • any other evidence which may be deemed relevant.

Terms and conditions

The recipient may hold the scholarship for one year subject to the recipient:

  • remaining enrolled as a full-time student in an approved undergraduate program, and
  • maintaining a minimum GPA of 5.0.

If the recipient fails to satisfy the above, the recipient must show cause to the Dean why the scholarship should not be cancelled.

Terminology

In these rules:
Approved undergraduate program means the Bachelor of Business Management program majoring in Real Estate & Development
Dean means the Dean of the UQ Business school
Scholarship means the Sentinel Property Group Scholarship
