The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and assist meritorious students undertaking a Spanish language major to participate in the UQ Abroad Program at an official UQ partner university in a Spanish speaking country.

  • Eligibility

    The scholarship is open to students who:

    • are Australian citizens or Australian Permanent Residents; and
    • have sucessfully completed at least 8 units in Spanish language courses; and
    • do not hold another similar scholarship; and
    • have not previously held the scholarship; and
    • have been accepted into the UQ Abroad Program to undertake at least 4 units of study towards the Spanish major at an official UQ partner university in a country where the predominant language spoken is Spanish; and
    • intend to use the scholarship to travel to a country where Spanish is the native language.
The scholarship was established in 2011 and is maintained by a gift from the Queensland Government, UQ International and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
