The PhD candidate will work on designing and developing machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) frameworks in conjunction with robotic system implementations, as part of microwave image based inspection of different material infrastructure in civil and marine industry. The applicant will be applying and testing different ML/AI concepts in order to optimise the quality and performance of infrastructure defect detection and image-based delineation of the same.

Selection criteria

A background in electrical engineering or a related field would be of benefit to someone working on this project. Previous experience in machine learning/artificial intelligence, automation/robotics, electromagnetics and/or microwave engineering is highly desirable.
