The purpose of the scholarship is to assist domestic Australian indigenous students with the costs of tuition fees, books and study expenses, accommodation and basic living expenses while studying science at The University of Queensland. Priority will be given to applicants with bloodline to country.

$20,000
The value of the scholarship will be $10,000 per semester, consisting of the tuition fee payable for the recipients program with the remainder paid directly to the recipient.

  • Eligibility

    The scholarship is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who intend to enrol full-time in one of the following programs (list of programs subject to final approval) in the year of the award:

    • the Bachelor of Science
    • the Bachelor of Biomedical Science 
    • the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours)
    • the Bachelor of Biotechnology (Honours)
    • the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours)
    • the Bachelor of Mathematics (3 years)

    Preference may be given to students from North Stradbroke Island, Queensland.

Established in 2008 and maintained by an annual gift from Independent Marine Biochemical Research, and the Faculty of Biological and Chemical Sciences, to assist an Indigenous student with the costs of tuition fees, books and study expenses, accommodation and basic living expenses while they undertake the Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Environmental Science or the Bachelor of Biotechnology.
