Description
Established in 2019 by Jason McNeil under the Create Change Scholarship Match initiative and maintained by income generated from the endowment fund. The Scholarship is to honour the memory of UQ Social Work alumnus Craig Luke McNeil, the brother of Jason McNeil.
Eligibility
An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship, if the applicant –
- can demonstrate financial need;
- submits an application to the Head of School, by the closing date for applications; and
- is enrolled in the first year of Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) at The University of Queensland.

How to apply
Applicants in 2020 should be in their first year of study in the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) program.

Selection criteria
The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria –
- demonstrated financial need;
- strength of personal statement included with application; and
- any other evidence that may be deemed relevant to the applicant’s future success in the field of social work.
Preference will be given to applicants in the following order of preference:
- completed Year 12 in a Regional Or Remote Area, or completed Year 12 as a boarder whilst having a permanent residential address in a Regional Or Remote Area, in the year immediately prior to award; or
- completed Year 12 in a Regional Or Remote Area or completed Year 12 as a boarder whilst having a permanent residential address in a Regional Or Remote Area;
- completed Year 12 in the year immediately prior to award.
