Established in 1985 by a bequest to the University under the will of Charles Morphett Pegler who died on 24 March 1954.

Selection criteria

Applicants will be ranked on the basis of:

  • academic achievement and potential for scholastic success; and
  • any other matters the selection committee sees fit.

Selection of a scholar will be made by a Graduate School selection committee and approved by the Dean Graduate School.

Terms and conditions

This is a philanthropic HDR top-up scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships

All philanthropic scholarship recipients must adhere to the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements.

Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.

Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.
