  • Eligibility

    This project would suit someone who has shown high achievement in a degree including a thesis in a quantitative area. The candidate should have a strong mathematical background, some knowledge of probability, computational statistics, machine learning and optimisation, programming skills, such as in R, Matlab or python. The candidate should be keen to do research in this area, including developing suitable models and algorithms, and applying them to challenging practical problems. They should also have strong written and oral English communication skills.

    To be eligible you must:

    • be nominated by an enrolling school or institute at UQ;
    • be assessed by the Graduate School as meeting all conditions for admission into the PhD program;
    • not already hold a PhD;
    • not already be receiving a living allowance award, scholarship or salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the RTP Scholarship living allowance rate to undertake the PhD; 

    Students applying for this scholarship should plan to commence in October (Research Quarter 4), 2018.
