The scholarship is available to students currently enrolled in either the MD or MBBS degree program at The University of Queensland. Applicants must be in good academic standing, and must have completed at least two semesters of study at UQ before applying for the scholarship. Successful applicants will possess demonstrated leadership potential, and a clearly articulated interest in strengthening their business acumen for future success in the medical profession.
About the award
The purpose of the scholarships is to support medical students to acquire governance skills early in their medical careers. Most decisions about the practice of Medicine will originate in or be implemented by Board run entities. Doctors should be qualified to sit at these Board tables. The Scholarships cover the complete cost of enrolment in the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) “Company Directors Course” which is a five-day business management and leadership program offered in Brisbane in an ongoing basis several times per year.
The scholarships will cover the cost of an AICD membership ($550), and the membership rate for the program ($6,699). AICD has agreed to waive the membership joining fee for the scholarship recipients.
Students will be selected based on demonstrated leadership potential, and a clearly articulated interest in strengthening their business acumen for future success in the medical profession.
How to apply
Applicant’s will be invited to submit a letter of application, not to exceed 2 pages in length, detailing their interest in the Company Directors Course, and addressing their eligibility with regard to the stated criteria. The application letter shall include contact information for two referees who can speak to the applicant’s leadership potential. Letters should be emailed in PDF or Word format to email@example.com.
