The Farrer Memorial Trust is again offering travelling scholarships for postgraduate students enrolled for a PhD on any aspect of field crop research.  

The scholarships commemorate William James Farrer, widely considered the father of the Australian wheat industry. They honour his memory by encouraging aspiring agricultural scientists.

The scholarships aim to expose recipients to the best international agricultural science and to assist recipients to develop the contacts, knowledge and passion to build the future of the cropping industries.

The Travel Scholarship will support overseas travel, to include attendance at an international conference at which a paper or poster is being presented.  In addition, awardees will be given the opportunity to visit cutting-edge agricultural research facilities.


Applicants must be a Postgraduate student enrolled for a PhD in field crop research.

How to apply

Completed application forms must be submitted to science.research@uq.edu.au by March 6, 2020 to undergo an internal review by the School. All applications must be submitted to the Faculty of Science and not directly to the funder.
