About this scholarship
Established in 2005 by a bequest from the estate of the late Emeritus Professor Dorothy Hill, AC, CBE, who had a long standing association with the University of Queensland which lasted more than 60 years.
Eligibility
You are eligible if you are are applying to undertake a PhD in the areas of palaeontology, stratigraphy and sedimentology research.
How to apply
You will be considered for this scholarship when you apply for a higher degree by research program at UQ in the next scholarship round.
Selection criteria
Your application will be ranked on the basis of:
- the merit of the proposed research program in the areas of palaeontology, stratigraphy and sedimentology; and
- academic achievement and potential for scholastic success; and
- any other matters the selection committee sees fit.
Rules
This is a philanthropic HDR Living scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships.
All philanthropic scholarship recipients must follow the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements.
Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.
Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.
The information you provide in your application is collected for the purposes of (1) assessing your eligibility for this scholarship, (2) selecting scholarship recipients, and (3) administration of the scholarship. A domestic part-time student with carer’s responsibilities, a medical condition or a disability, which prevents them from studying full time may be eligible for scholarship consideration, on a case by case basis.
