Awarded to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students studying an undergraduate or postgraduate program administered by the Faculty of Medicine or Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences.

Award value:
$1,700 (approximate, based on the last year of award)
The number and value of the bursaries awarded will vary depending on the applications received.

  • Eligibility

    An applicant is eligible for a Bursary if the applicant –

    1. submits an application to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies Unit; and
    2. is of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
    3. is enrolled as a full time student in an Approved Program; and
    4. is a domestic student in accordance with The University’s Fee Policy; and
    5. does not hold another scholarship that the Pro-Vice-Chancellor considers to be similar.

    Approved Program means any undergraduate or postgraduate program administered by the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences. 

Bursaries are available to support Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain access to opportunities that enhance their education in health disciplines. These bursaries are provided by a generous gift from UQ Alumnus, Dr Alan Lan Van Tran and his wife Mrs Minh Ha Tran.
