The scholarships shall be awarded to commencing students assessed by QTAC as being eligible for UQ Link, in accordance with the UQ Link eligibility criteria.
Eligibility
An applicant is eligible for the award of a scholarship in a year, if the applicant—
- is or will be a domestic student in accordance with The University's Fee Policy; and
- is enrolled, or intends to enrol as a commencing student at The University of Queensland in a relevant program in the year of the award or after an approved deferral of up to two years; and
- has not completed any prior tertiary study at bachelor level or above; and
- has demonstrated significant financial disadvantage through achieving maximum points for the ‘Financial Hardship’ category of QTAC’s Educational Access Scheme.
About the award
QTAC applicants approved for the UQ Link Scholarship receive five bonus ranks to assist with their entry to UQ.
After enrolling, applicants receive a scholarship valued at $3000 per year ($1500 per semester) for up to 3 years. Scholarships may be held for up to three years subject to recipients meeting ongoing eligibility requirements.
In the first semester of enrolment at UQ, $500 of the scholarship value for the year is paid at the beginning of semester to assist with up-front costs associated with coming to university. After this initial payment, the scholarship is paid in semester instalments after full time enrolment at UQ and ongoing eligibility are confirmed.
Semester instalments are paid within two weeks of the census date in Semester 1 and 2 (ie mid April and mid September).
How to apply
Step 1: Apply through QTAC
Apply through QTAC for a tertiary place at UQ.
Step 2: Complete your online application
Complete the “Financial Hardship” section on the EAS tab of your QTAC Application Form and ensure you provide all required supporting financial documentation/information to QTAC. Students wishing to be considered for the UQ Link Scholarship will need to have applied for EAS and submitted all required documentation to QTAC.
Step 3: QTAC Assessment
QTAC will assess the information you have provided and will determine whether you have met the eligibility criteria for the UQ Link Scholarship.
UQ will notify all applicants approved for the UQ Link Scholarship and they will have 5 bonus ranks automatically applied to any UQ preferences.
Note: UQ Link students successful in gaining a place at UQ will normally be able to defer their tertiary offer through QTAC for up to two years before commencing their university studies.
