Description
The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage students to undertake applied research in the area of stress and trauma in the community or workplace. It was established in 2008 and maintained by funds donated from the Australian Critical Incident Stress Association Inc (ACISA).
Eligibility
You are eligible for this scholarship if you are:
- enrolled in the Master of Mental Health program; and
- enrolled in the course entitled Independent Mental Health Project A in Semester 1; and
- intend to enrol in the course entitled Independent Mental Health Project B in either the following semester or the year immediately following; and
- undertaking an Independent Mental Health Project in the broad research area of stress and trauma in the community or workplace.

How to apply
In addition to the requirements set out in the selection criteria, your application should include:

Email all applications to med.prizes@uq.edu.au. Ensure your document is in PDF format and that the document is saved with your name and the name of the scholarship (for example: Jane Smith_ACISA Scholarship 2019.PDF).
All applications must be received by 12 midnight AEST on the closing date. You will be sent an electronic receipt once your application has been received.
Selection criteria
Applications are assessed by a selection committee which will base its decsion on based on:
- the feasibility of the proposed project; and
- the contribution the learning is likely to make to the understanding of the impact of stress in the community or workplace; and
- other evidence that may be considered relevant by the selection committee.
Applications must be submitted in the form of a quantitative, qualitative or literature based research proposal of not more than two A4 pages.
Scholarship rules
Terms and conditions
The recipient of a scholarship will be paid the scholarship value in two instalments, at the following times:
- one instalment while enrolled in the course entitled Independent Mental Health Project A; and
- one instalment while enrolled in the course entitled Independent Mental Health Project B.
Payment of the scholarship is subject to the recipient satisfying the following requirements:
- continuing to be enrolled in the Master of Mental Health program; and
- continuing to undertake an Independent Mental Health Project in the broad research area of stress and trauma in the community or workplace.
The recipient will be required to acknowledge the scholarship in all publications and presentations of the research.
