Awarded to students accepted to King's College.
To be eligible to apply for the King’s College Sporting Scholarship, students must:
- Show outstanding sporting ability at representative level (Inter-College competition compatible).
- Have applied for a place at The University of Queensland through QTAC.
- Have applied for and been accepted into King’s College as a new resident.
- Be an Australian citizen.
To be eligible to apply for the King’s College & UQ Rugby Academy Scholarship, students must:
- Be capable of playing Rugby Union at a high standard.
- Have applied for and been accepted into King’s College.
- Be a member of the UQ Rugby Academy.
About the award
1. King's College Entrance Scholarship - valued at $2,000
This Scholarship is awarded to a NEW resident of King’s College (any year of study) based on academic performance, potential contribution to the College and financial need.
Valued at A$2,000 over a 12 month period, this scholarship is paid in equal parts over first and second semester to reduce the fees payable.
2. King’s College and UQ Rugby Academy Scholarships – Two each valued at $4,000
An initiative of the UQ Rugby Academy and King’s College, the purpose of these scholarships is to assist King's College students who have demonstrated that they are capable of playing Rugby Union at a high standard and who are also members of the UQ Rugby Academy.
Two scholarships are available, each valued at A$4,000 for a 12 month period.
3. King’s College Sporting Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a student with an exceptionally high standard of performance in their chosen sport – Inter-College Competition (ICC) compatible.
The recipient of this scholarship receives a discount of up to half the academic year’s standard room accommodation at King’s. The scholarship holder will also receive a 12 month membership and Total Value Pass from UQ Sport which provides access to Gym, Cardio, Pool and group fitness activities plus a range of high performance support services.
In order to receive this scholarship the student must agree to play their sport for King’s College in the ICC competition while also playing for the compatible UQ Club.
4. UQ Cultural Scholarship at King’s College
The recipient of this scholarship receives a discount of up to half of the academic year’s standard room accommodation at King’s.
In order to receive this scholarship the student must agree to participate in the relevant art-form in the ICC Cultural Competition (e.g. choir, instrumental, debating, drama, etc).
Applications will be assessed on the following icriteria. Please ensure that information included in the application form is accurate:
a) accepted in to King’s College as a new resident (must apply via: www.kings.uq.edu.au), as per the College’s normal application process
b) be involved in an Inter-College Competition (ICC) recognised activity that provides the opportunity for beneficial promotional opportunities for King’s College and UQ Sport.
c) to have competed at representative level.
d) proven leadership skills.
e) to be able to, under normal circumstances, compete for King’s College in ICC competitions and represent the University at Club and University Games level.
f) To maintain a GPA of 4 or above whilst studying at the University of Queensland.
These scholarships are offered only at the discretion of the King’s College Master, whose decision is final.
All scholarships are offered as discounts off normal accommodation fees.
In order to receive any of these scholarships the student must be accepted as a member of King’s College and as such must successfully complete the application process.

Applicants for all Scholarships are required to outline in 500 words or less why they qualify to receive a particular scholarship.
