About this scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2011 and is maintained by a bequest from Leslie Campbell-Brown.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to applicants planning on undertaking a higher degree by research in the field of French studies.  Scholarship holders are encouraged to incorporate research-related travel into their research plan.

How to apply

You will be considered for this scholarship when you apply for a higher degree by research program at UQ in the next scholarship round.

Selection criteria

Your application will be ranked on the basis of:

  • academic achievement and potential for scholastic success; and
  • the significance and relevance of the proposed use of the scholarship to your research higher degree candidature,
  • the potential for the proposed use of the scholarship to expedite the completion and enhance the quality of your thesis; and
  • any other matters the Head or Dean considers appropriate.

Rules

This is a philanthropic HDR Living scholarship and adheres to the terms and conditions outlined in the Schedule A Postgraduate Research Scholarships.

All philanthropic scholarship recipients must follow the conditions of UQ research and travel scholarships, including reporting and progress requirements.

Holders of these philanthropic scholarships must acknowledge them in any paper that is published as a result of the research conducted while the recipient held the scholarship.

Donors may also invite the recipient to present on the work conducted as part of the scholarship, in which case they must comply or risk losing the scholarship.

The information you provide in your application is collected for the purposes of (1) assessing your eligibility for this scholarship, (2) selecting scholarship recipients, and (3) administration of the scholarship.  The University of Queensland may disclose the information you provide to the Donor for the stated purposes. The University will not otherwise disclose the information to a third party without your consent, unless such disclosure is authorised or required by law. A domestic part-time student with carer’s responsibilities, a medical condition or a disability, which prevents them from studying full time may be eligible for scholarship consideration, on a case by case basis.
